I have the honour to transmit herewith a copy
of a letter which we have received from the Collector of
the Guardians, Portsmouth, respecting Mr. J.E. Baker
lately a Sergeant of Police in Hong Kong, to whom we have been authorised by that Government to pay a pension of
£52. 4.3. a year as from the 14th of July last, and to
enquire whether, in view of the circumstances stated, the
Secretary of State approves of our paying the pension to
Mrs. Baker on production of the usual life certificates
from the Asylum Authorities.
Mr. Baker has so far received payment of his
pension up to the end of October.
